My first African country was Kenya. It was the one that had me the most interested. I visited in 2014/2015 and included Tanzania and Uganda on the trip too. I did safari, saw my favorite animal, saw beauty, saw poverty, got sick, climbed a mountain, chilled by the sea, ran, swam, partied and just experienced as much as I could.
